An obsessive big game hunter, Kraven vows to take down Spider-Man with his bare hands to prove himself as the ultimate apex predator, hunting his target across New York City, the premier urban jungle. Kraven takes a mystical serum that grants him superhuman strength, slowed aging, and enhanced senses to better track his prey. Frustrated by his continued inability to defeat Spider-Man, Kraven became one of the founding members of the original Sinister Six, though he remained unsuccessful in his quest. One of the most formidably unrelenting villains introduced in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is Sergei Kravinoff, better known as Kraven the Hunter. Leading a group of elite mercenaries dubbed the Hunters, Kraven is constantly on the search for an opponent worthy of his immensely lethal talents. With the growing number of super-powered figures active in Marvel’s New York, Kraven sets his sights on the city, with both Spider-Men at the top of his targets.

Spider-Man 2 feels like it’s right in the centre of Sony’s blockbuster sequel design philosophy. Where Horizon Forbidden West did the same thing but bigger, The Last of Us Part 2 elevated itself technologically, narratively, and most importantly, ambitiously. Spider-Man 2 falls between these approaches – it has some of Horizon’s safety, but with a slice of the elevation The Last of Us brought.
Immediately recognisable, the Sandman himself makes an appearance in Spider-Man 2 as the first main boss of the game. Marko has grown to massive proportions and is kicking up a storm of sand and wreaking havoc on the city. This boss is something of a tutorial fight, so you are walked through how to beat him and avoid his attacks as you play as Peter and Miles. The only villains we get are Kraven, Venom, Sandman, The Lizard, and Mysterio (kind of).
Outside of the likes of Venom, Kraven, and Lizard seen in the trailers, Insomniac has kept many more cards hidden up its sleeve. I won’t even hint at any of these except to say that Spider-Man 2 opens with a bang, offering up a sense of scale not previously seen in the series. It’s an adrenaline-fuelled reintroduction to the series that tests how well you remember the combat, as well as providing a few new tricks.

Scream will be appearing as one of the symbiotic adversaries in the sequel game. Like Venom, Scream possesses a deadly arsenal of abilities that makes her a nightmare for New York residents. There’s the FEAST headquarters, lots of quirky murals, small shops, and restaurants. This Spider Bot, Spider-Armor MK III, is found in the Northern end of Upper East Side. On the map screen, look for the El Train tracks cut through the middle of the district from North to South.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is an action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel, and optimized for PC by Nixxes Software. Originally released for PlayStation, the game is now available for PC players via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Players take on the roles of Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they face new threats to New York City. Peter’s on-again/off-again girlfriend Mary Jane Watson accidentally smuggles a genetically engineered spider out of Oscorp headquarters, which ends up biting Miles.

After learning Peter is Spider-Man, Harry uses the symbiote to help his best friend fight crime and help people around New York. The symbiote was first glimpsed at the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man, albeit within a stasis tube, and bonded to Harry Osborn to stabilize Harry’s terminal illness. Harry’s father Norman lied to Harry’s friends Peter and Mary Jane Watson that his son was working for Oscorp in Europe, when the truth was Harry was diagnosed with a terminal neurological disease and hidden in Oscorp Tower in Manhattan. As Norman approached Harry’s stasis container, the Venom symbiote visibly reacted when Norman touched a glass window on the container. The 1.002 update brought 2 more suits, a single free suit for both Miles and Peter.
For Spider-Man 2 high ray tracing specs, you’ll need a GPU architecture upgrade, where only an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT will do. Despite being a PS5 port, the Spider-Man 2 system requirements can ask a lot of your gaming PC, especially if you want to play at 4K with ray tracing enabled. On PS5 in 2023, Spider-Man 2 at least served as an impressive technical showcase for the hardware, and a blockbuster release in a relatively quiet release schedule. On PC in 2025, without those advantages and in a disappointingly shaky state, it’s much more difficult to recommend. Despite being awash with paramilitary criminal organisations, New York has never felt more toothless and dull.
It’s all going well for the duo until a new threat emerges, a seemingly unstoppable killer named Kraven, appears out of the blue on a mission to have the perfect hunt, leaving a trail of super-powered bodies in his wake. There’s also a certain symbiote inching its way into their lives that will instantly flag to anyone even remotely familiar with Spider-Man lore where the story is heading. Since the dawn of Atari, there have been dozens of Spider-Man games, and despite the occasional gem, most developers have struggled to embody what makes the wall crawler work. It isn’t about power fantasy or the rogue’s gallery, it’s about the little things.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was first revealed during Sony’s 2021 PlayStation Showcase event. The initial trailer gave us a look at Peter Parker and Miles Morales in action together, with Venom joining the fight at the very end. During PlayStation’s September 2023 State of Play, Insomniac showcased a closer look at Marvel’s New York.
And the way both characters’ powers grow over the course of the story are very satisfying. The first game laid the groundwork for how fun swinging as Spider-Man can be. So make sure your reaction time is sharp before you don the super suit.
Untethered from endless continuity with a focused lens on these particular Spider-folk, the game can pull inspiration from iconic arcs like the origin of Venom and “Kraven’s Last Hunt,” while maintaining unexpected twists and impactful moments. For those with a hazy memory, there is a brief recap of both Peter and Miles’ stories so far available, which is handy, as this is very much a sequel that weaves in both plotlines and characters from the previous games and accompanying DLC. kuwin com won’t want to jump in for the first time here since Spider-Man 2 builds on the first two games both in its mechanics and its story – but of course, there’s little reason not to, since those games are also excellent. Avoiding spoilers, the basic premise revolves around Kraven the Hunter, who is, well, craving a hunt. For those uninitiated in the character, he’s essentially The Predator, an Apex hunter blessed with super strength who has chosen New York as his next hunting ground.
Go to the church in the south of Financial District, climb up the back of the church tower. Play as Miles and go invisible by pressing (after unlocking invisibility from story progress). Alternatively, can also focus on Stealth Crimes (which are slightly random), but going invisible with Miles is the easiest option.
Jefferson is lauded for his heroism at a re-election event for Mayor Norman Osborn. The Demons attack the event, killing Jefferson and many other attendees. Peter witnesses Martin Li transforming into their leader, Mister Negative, but is knocked unconscious before he can intervene. Following the attack, Norman hires Silver Sablinova and Sable International to supplant the police.
These characters do add a bit more flavour to the world and its largely homogenous population of NPCs you’re clearly not intended to look at too closely. These later stages are where the majority of Spider-Man 2’s thrills lay, however, as it really hits its stride late on, and emphatically wraps up a tale with miles of emotional depth that never once threatens to peter out. Speaking of boss battles, that’s one area that takes a noticeable step up from our initial tangos with Kingpin, Vulture, and the rest. One of my criticisms of the first in Insomniac’s series was how uninspired many of the showdowns felt, with their quicktime-heavy fights making a light impact. Improvements were made in Miles Morales, but here in the full-fledged sequel, boss battles really come to life. You’re made to wait a little too long for them sometimes, but when they do arrive they never fail to excite.
